Finding Belonging in Monobloc's New Single "Where Is My Garden"

Updated: Sep 15, 2024

Brooklyn-based Monobloc, formed by Timothy Waldron and Michael "Mop" Silverglade of Courier Club fame, has been steadily carving out their niche since their debut single, "I'm Just Trying to Love You," dropped in January. Now, with their second release, "Where Is My Garden," the band continues to explore themes of urban dissatisfaction, blending nostalgic indie rock vibes with a fresh, introspective sound.

"Where Is My Garden" is a heartfelt reflection on the search for belonging in a fast-paced, often superficial city landscape. The song delves into the feelings of isolation and the quest for authenticity, evoking a sense of longing that many can relate to. Monobloc's sound, reminiscent of the popular 2014 Tumblr culture, intertwines with influences from The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, and The Black Keys, creating a unique and compelling sonic experience.

The music video, self-directed and presented entirely in black and white, complements the song’s themes beautifully. Set in a house that brings to mind the ethereal ambiance of the Cullen residence from Twilight, the video portrays the band in a surreal, almost timeless space, enhancing the narrative of finding one's place amidst the mundanity of everyday life.

"Where Is My Garden" is a significant step forward for Monobloc, showcasing their growth and maturity as artists. As they gear up for a residency in New York this August and an upcoming tour, this single solidifies their position in the indie rock scene and offers a refreshing take on the challenges of modern living.
