Celebrating with a headline show at YES (The Basement), Yasmin Coe is making her mark on the UK alternative pop scene.

Born in Hull, England, the singer-songwriter started out as an acoustic musician and made a name for herself in the local music scene. After moving to Manchester for university, things have only gone up from there. Yasmin's blossoming career has already seen her support a variety of artists, including the likes of Chloe Slater and Maruja, growing her audience even more. She makes any stage her own, with the incredible support of her band, and brings fun performances with an enticing aura for the crowd. She was previously featured on BBC 6 Music’s Indie-pendence play and received praise for her “heart-wrenching lyricism."

Coe is known for dreamy pop tracks and describes her style as “girl power pop.”. Her ethereal vocals, honest lyrics, and euphoric arrangements invite you into her world. Yasmin has drawn influence from a number of artists, such as Wolf Alice and Cocteau Twins, with her writing style likened to Mitski. She is clearly the one to watch in the alternative pop genre.

“The Most I Could Do” showcases the raw talent and sincere storytelling of Coe, taking you on a journey of vulnerability and reflection. She pours her heart into this project, starting with “Opener,” a somber track that bathes you in melancholy. It explores a vulnerability and defines the stories that follow throughout the record.

“When You Can’t Have Her” features Yasmin’s acoustic roots with sweet shoegaze guitars and dives into the feelings of longing. Calling back to a 2000s indie aesthetic, the track contrasts the desolate vibe with an optimistic instrumental.

“Expected As Much” features a grungy attitude that resonates with listeners, and the bitter sentiments of the lyrics are conveyed via Coe’s angelic, upbeat vocal performance that gives fans room to interpret it in their own way.

While “Linen” takes a very different tone, shifting back to

softer vocals about finding comfort in someone even without commitment. Revisiting

shoegaze stylings with swelling emotions, “Linen” immerses listeners in a nostalgic sort of

love through Coe’s dreamy and understated performance. Like the previous track, the lyrics

contrast with the instrumental and performance, which wraps the listener in a nebula of

emotions.

Yasmin's favourite song on the EP is “Closer,” the final track implementing a similar repetitive beat that could be heard in “Opener,” creating a full-circle moment and bringing the audience to the end of this journey. The bittersweet feeling at the end of the record evokes such emotion through the atmosphere of the EP and the layered narratives. It almost feels like it shouldn’t be over yet.

A personal favourite track from the album is “Expected As Much,” with its captivating energy and attitude that seeps from Coe’s vocals and the accompanying instruments.

Yasmin took to the stage at YES (The Basement) in Manchester on 7th December 2024 to an adoring crowd. Supported by her band, Yasmin was met with cheers from the adoring crowd who were mesmerized by her performance. Her headline show is just a taste of what Yasmin has in store for us, though, with her having already confirmed a set at Manchester Psych Fest 2025 on 30th August 2025 alongside GOAT, Kit Sebastian, Goji Moon, and more!

Yasmin has hit the ground running with this latest release, and her indie pop charm captivates audiences both in the studio and on the stage. The future is looking very bright indeed for Yasmin Coe.
